Mobile Viewpoint technology delivers unique live perspective on UEFA Championship

Yesterday, more than five news crews reported live on the UEFA Championship in Amsterdam using Mobile Viewpoint technology. Amongst these crews were the BBC, public Portuguese broadcaster RTP and Portuguese sports channel SIC. With their Mobile Viewpoint LTE and WMT units these news crews were able to report live on everything related to the Chelsea – Benfica UEFA final in the Amsterdam Arena, the Netherlands. These news crews used a cost efficient and flexible alternative (3G/4G) to satellite uplink to transmit live video in broadcast quality.

BBC purchases WMT LTE Systems for live newsgathering

After supporting the BBC in 2012 in de live broadcast of the Olympic Torch Relay, Mobile Viewpoint is again selected to deliver IP contribution systems to the BBC. The BBC will use the WMT LTE systems, as recently introduced by MVP, to perform live video reports over 4G from all over the UK.

After intensive testing and trials with several broadcasters, Mobile Viewpoint has launched its newsgathering 'WMT Live' iPhone Application. It is available for free in the App Store. The WMT Live turns your iPhone into a live broadcast camera, capable of sending HD quality video to Mobile Viewpoint's cloud server, which can deliver it to any broadcaster as an SDI or streaming feed.
